This is Attorney Gabriel Levin, the founder of The Levin Firm. The question I've been asked to address today is what compensation I'm entitled to after a motorcycle accident. Motorcycle accidents, like car accidents, are entitled to similar damages. You're entitled to pain and suffering, loss of life's pleasures. You're entitled to compensation for scarring and disfigurement and embarrassment and humiliation.

One of the main considerations that you should think about when you've been in a motorcycle accident, or I guess before you ever get in the accident is making sure that you have sufficient insurance on your motorcycle. Well, there's a rider on your insurance called underinsured motorist coverage. Underinsured motorist coverage compensates you for the difference between the defendant's insurance policy and the true value of your claim. So if your claim is worth $100,000 and the defendant only has $15,000 of insurance, well, you're only gonna get $15,000, but he's underinsured by $85,000. Well, if you have $100,000 of underinsured motorist coverage, your own insurance company will pay you that difference, that $85,000.

And you can see from that example, that particular victim will have received 85% of their settlement because they were smart enough to get proper insurance on their motorcycle when they took it out with the company. So I would say, make sure you get as much as you can afford because the accidents that occur on motorcycles tend to be catastrophic in nature. And the smaller policies just aren't gonna be enough to get you properly compensated.
